His brother Luke could have been one too but unfortunately he needed a wee at the wrong moment. Zack got his powers from an alien from a universe parallel to ours, where everything is the same apart from green is red and sponge cake tastes different. The alien was called Zorbon the Decider. Zack was given powers to destroy Nemesis. One of his powers is telekinesis but he has 5 others that he finds out about later in the story. Zack’s superhero name is Star Lad. Zack is secretly in love with a girl called Cara whose sister is called Lara. Zack’s first mission was to save Cara’s phone as it fell down the drain. For this mission, he used telekinesis and when Cara asks how he did it, he sort of lets his emotions show by asking her for a kiss by accident. A few days later, he saved Cara again by stopping a bus that she was on because its brakes weren’t working. He uses telekinesis again to lift the bus up…
Title: Charlie Merrick’s Misfits in I'm a Nobody, Get Me Out of Here! Author: Dave Cousins One day Charlie and Sam (Sam’s his friend) and their gang (The Misfits) go to football camp. They were DRIVING FOR HOURS, then they turned up at the WRONG place and saw a weird man who had a metal eye, 2 scars, a shark tooth around his neck, a huge knife, a utility belt and a missing finger. They soon find out he is the leader of the Go Wild Centre and his name is Survival Clive! They end up having to do Survival Skills instead of football training because they turned up at the wrong place! They end up competing against a bunch of girls called the Wild Warriors, who are actually really good! How do they do against a bunch of girls? Were the Misfits scared to compete against the Wild Warriors? Did they win? Did they survive the training given by Survival Clive? You will have to read to find out. I enjoyed this book because it’s action-packed and I wanted to read on. I give it 101/100
Title: Cap'n John the (Slightly) Fierce Author: Johnny Smith Release Date: 2/4/2015 Pages: 112 Although John Smith has a boring name, he’s not boring. His mum says he’s 1,000,000 John Smiths. In the book John has to face Captain Black on the Monstrous Curse which is Captain Black’s Ship and Captain Black is the grisliest pirate on the seas. This is how the story starts: Granddad lost his dentures and asks John to help him find them. Then when he finds the teeth he returns them but he also finds a chest with things like hats, swords, wigs, boots and gloves and lots more! This is where the pirate adventure begins. Does he walk the plank? Does he get eaten by sharks? You’ll have to read the book to find out! I give it 1,000,000/1,000,000 J I recommend it to 6+ Early Readers. Next I would like to read Sheriff John the (partly) Wild.
Title: Wigglesbottom Primary: The Toilet Ghost Author: Pamela Butchart This book is about class 2R in WigglesBottom Primary and the book has 3 stories. I’m going to tell you about The Curse of the Itchy Carpet! Class 2R did show and tell and Bobby brought in a weird box which said Danger, Beware and DO NOT OPEN! Then Sunita opened it before Bobby could give it to the teacher AND during storytime the Curse CAME ALIVE! All the children were itching here and there, they were itching everywhere and the teacher especially was itching her bum! J Was the curse real? Did the teacher stop itching her bum? You’ll have to read this hilarious, funny book. I like this book because it’s got cool illustrations and 3 laugh out loud stories. I recommend it to ages 6-7 early readers. I give it 101/100. Title: The Sword of Kuromori Author: Jason Rohan The Sword of Kuromori is a fast paced book with lots of action! A boy called Kenny finds out his grandfather’s deepest secrets. He goes on a Japanese adventure to stop an earthquake happening. He thinks he has to destroy a satellite and if he doesn’t, it will fire a beam to make an earthquake but…. there is something even bigger waiting for him (well technically smaller but stronger) and his Japanese sidekick Kiyomi. He has been given the gift of sight which means he can see creatures which try to stop him from completing his mission. You will learn about these in the book! I was lucky enough to meet the author at a workshop at my local library where he told me all about it and about his trip to Japan which inspired the book. I can’t wait for the new one to come out!!! This is a great book for 10+ year olds because it is quite long and it has Japanese words in it which many confuse younger children but don’t worry there is a glossary at the back. Title: Pinocchio Author: Michael Morpurgo Have you ever read Pinocchio? We bet it wasn’t written in Pinocchio’s eyes! If you haven’t read Pinocchio we will tell you all about him. First of all, Pinocchio is a puppet, actually, the most famous puppet in the world! Also Pinocchio is more than just some cherry wood and string; he is ALIVE but he is often stupid, very stupid! At one point in the story he is so stupid that he gets robbed by a blind cat and a fox! He was made by Gepetto because he’s darling wife wanted a child. After he was made, his darling wife was full of happiness. Pinocchio does what he wants and never thinks about the consequences. Pinocchio jumps from the frying pan into the fire and is always in danger. Pinocchio is always naughty like when he ran away to the circus and he sold his ABC books that Gepetto bought him! We aren’t going to tell you anymore about Pinocchio as you will have to read the book to find out the story. This is a story where two enemies become two friends and help each other to save Christmas. But… Can they save Christmas? Does the green illness spread? Do they die? Read the book to find out! The moral of this story is “The thing that makes you different, is the thing that makes you astounding!” I like this book because it was exciting and I wanted to read on. At the beginning I found it difficult to understand what was going on but I soon got into the story and wanted to continue reading it. I recommend this book to 10+ adventure readers. I give it 9/10.
