Title: Stig of the Dump Author: Clive King There was a boy who was told not to go near the chalk pit (the dump) but it was a grey day where you couldn’t go anywhere and you couldn’t do anything but go to the chalk pit. So Barney went to play near the chalk pit. He was told not to go near it because at the edge of the chalk pit the ground crumbles when you stand on it and you fall. Well, Barney did just that, fell, summersaulted, got tangled up in vines and landed in a pile of moss. He bumped his head so lots of silly things were going on in his brain. After a while he woke up and thought he had broken his arm, neck or leg. But he hadn’t, he had only got his legs tied up in vines. Then … he heard a voice! A loud deep voice coming from the cave. He was on the floor outside the cave. “Who’s there?” said Barney. A grunt came as a reply, followed by something that sounded like “Stig”. This is the start of their friendship! Even though his grandma and sister don’t believe him…
Title: Jumblecat Author: Archie Kimpton I liked this book as it was very exciting and funny! The story is about a boy called Billy Slipper who finds a cat called Jumblecat. Jumblecat isn’t an ordinary cat, he’s a jumbled up cat and has legs where his arms should be and arms where his head should be and he is really rude! Billy’s family isn’t a normal family: his mum is mean like his sister and she has very bad OCD and she also hates animals, his twin sister is mean to him and is the opposite of him and his dad is just a normal dad who just watches TV and doesn’t answer back! His best friend Mrs Mandiddee is an old lady who lives next door to him. Mrs Mandiddee and Billy look after the cat and enter him into a competition for the strangest pet so that they can win some money in order to fix him. When they win the competition, Mrs Slipper sells the cat to the organiser of the competition called Colonel Beauvrille and this is when the adventure begins…. Can they save Jumblecat and find Colonel Beauvrille’s castle or do they fail??????? I enjoyed…

Algy met a girl called Cherry. They went to play in Algy’s new shed. The door was shut so Algy kicked it open and when they got in they found a box. Algy tried to open the box but Algy broke the shed wall when he fell backwards. On the other side of the wall they saw a jungle. Is this when the adventure begins? Do they get into danger? I liked it when Algy fights a crocodile. I give it 1,000/1,000 I recommend it to people who like adventure books aged 6+. I want to read more of the Early reader books!
Title: Saving Sophia Author: Fleur Hitchcock Even though I enjoy Fleur Hitchcock books, I just don’t think this book was right for me. I read half of it but found it was quite hard for me to understand. Perhaps if you are a bit older, (10-11 years of age) you might understand it a bit more than me. Don’t be put off by my review if you like Fleur Hitchcock books because you might enjoy it.
Title: The Yoghurt Plot Author: Fleur Hitchcock This book is about a boy called Bugg who has just moved house. He and his brother, Dilan have discovered a time travelling fridge!!!! It makes yoghurts which make you time travel when you eat them. They need to learn the rules of time travel because the first time they did it, they left gerbils behind (the gerbils belonged to a girl called Lorna who was with them) and then they left a plastic bag which exploded a land drain and destroyed Shabbiton. During their time travelling adventures, they go on a mission to stop the town pier from burning down. Granddad was young then and he was in a dance competition that was stopped because the pier burned down!!!!!! Can they stop it???? Do they change time???? Can Granddad win??? Read the book and find out! 🙂 I recommend this to 9+ time travelling fans who like good fictional stories. I give it 10/10

Title: Nathalia Buttface Author: Nigel Smith This book is about a girl who has an embarrassing dad. I bet your dad is even more embarrassing than hers! NOT! Her name is Nathalia Bumole (pronounced bew-mow-lay). On the first day at her new secondary school she hoped it would be a fresh start as in her last school her dad had embarrassed her too much! She was wrong because he embarrassed her from the minute she got there! Dad left the Atomic Dustbin (his van) in a reserved parking space for the deputy head, then in the middle of her first lesson, his van caught fire and he realised that Miss Hunny, his old school friend taught at the school. Some of the other things he did were: he made a party for Nathalia to make up for always embarrassing her but it just went wrong; he joined the school committee where he took part in events for the school, such as a brass rubbing trip where he left the teacher behind and a disco and a quiz which also went wrong! Title: How Harry Riddles Made a Mega-amazing Zombie Movie Author: Simon Mayle This book is about a boy called Harry who writes e-mails to his family. He would use Facebook but his mum stopped him! He also writes letters to famous people, like the Queen, Harry Styles and Sam Mendes! He is a very good gamer and he plays a game called World of Zombies where you shoot zombies and he is so good he gets 6 elite gaming prestiges (the MAX) on it as he plays it every night! Due to the fact that he plays that game, he created a zombie movie for his dad to get money for the family to stop them falling off the Fiscal Cliff! This reason for this is that his dad’s last movie went straight to DVD and in Super Saves bin and he ends up working at Super Save to earn some money. Also, earlier in the story, he meets a girl called Jessica and wants to impress her and the only chance is at the school play. Does he manage it????? Read it and find out! I thought it was a good book and I always wanted to read on….
Title: The Extincts Author: Veronica Cossanteli The book is about a boy called George who goes to the sweetshop one day and loses his bike. He ends up finding that it was a new girl in his class who stole it. George needed money and that’s when he saw a notice in the shop window for a job at Wormestall Farm. That’s how his adventure began! His adventure included an evil taxidermist called Diamond Pye (the new girl’s stepmother) and some creatures like, Mortifer the basilisk, Dido the Dodo, an ichthyosaur, Grissel the dragon, Tailbiter the Ouroboros and a flying A- called Lo. The moral of this book is, “Don’t worry about the end because there is really no such thing. The end of one thing you’ll find is always the beginning of another…” I really enjoyed this book and I loved the glossary which gave me information on all the animals. I would recommend this book to people aged over 7, including mums and dads because it is funny, interesting and entertaining! I would give this book 5/5!
